Currently, about one in three COVID tests in the state

is coming back positive.

That's about one in four.

Last week, considering a sizable increase,

there's also a big jump in the number of tests

being conducted.

The state is averaging *******,000 tests per day.

in North Texas hospitals is more than 2,200,

which is the highest since the October Delta surge.

While early studies show Omicron is not deadly,

the unvaccinated remain at the highest risk.

Data from the state health department

last fall of the war on Omicron showed

the unvaccinated in Texas are 20 times more

likely to die from COVID.

There's something about that.

There's still a potentially high risk of a bad Omicron

as well.

So there's still active there in its activation.
