For women, the areas of the upper back and the back of the neck are particularly sensitive.
Kissing, nibbling, sucking, these areas can be particularly pleasurable.
The central nervous system is connected and runs via the spine.
These nerves then go outwards from the spine and collect impulses from all over the body, both the muscles and the skin.
When the area around the back and the neck is stimulated, signals are fired from the nerves in the skin along the spinal cord to the sensory cortex in the brain.
This area, seen highlighted in red, is responsible for the perception of touch.
The overall physical response of stimulation to these areas is sexual arousal, erection in the man, and vaginal lubrication in the woman.
By the time the man has worked his way from the base of her spine to the top of her neck, signs of excitement are beginning to show.
We can see red blushing or sex flush on her skin.
And by kissing his way up her spine, he's able to position himself perfectly for entry once he reaches the top of her neck.
