Consolidated Properties, as an Australian developer, had the clever idea of design competition
mixing business with pleasure.
The company's directors invited 14 Australian architects to design the ultimate beach house
in Casualrandon Beach, Australia, and then pick up three winning firms to build their
designs as a part of Resident Developments Overlooking the Pacific.
One of the winning projects and the first to build was seen by architect Vlad Nimo,
who proposed something radically different in the world of developer-specific houses.
Their design aggressively pushes sustainability and energy efficiency, from natural ventilation
to expensive water recycling, and electrical power generation, an approach they hope will
be a precedent for environmentally sensitive development.
As architect, I currently point out, with a beach house, floor plans can be simple and
more relaxed than an urban house.
It can ignore the formalities of the city house and relax.
Like its occupants folding and merging into this landscape.
With this casualness and informality in mind, they purposely didn't define the interior
with region division.
Any space they say can be placed to read, *****, or play.
