Wenda just stared at her without giving an answer. Then she looked away. She didn't want her to see her eyes start to tear.

"Wenda!"

"Ugh."

Faye leapt over to her landlady and gave her a big hug.

They stayed like this for a few moments, without saying a single word to each other. Completely immersed in a state of sadness and affection.

"I'm sorry things have been so hard for you, Wenda."

"Sorry, honey. I didn't mean to snap at you. I've just been very tired lately, so that's made everything worse. I'll be fine."

"You know you can tell me everything. If something's bothering you, I should know."

"It's not your fault, sweetie. Or your roommate's."

Wenda smiled and raised her glass towards Faye. "It's this."

Faye chuckled.

"Then take the glass from Wenda and put it down on the table. Instead of drinking, you should get a massage. It'll help you get relaxed."

Wenda was skeptical of her abilities.

"Come on, you don't know how to massage."

"I do, honestly."

Wenda laughed.

"I'll be okay, sweetie. Let me just go to bed."

Wenda was ready to get up and leave.

Faye refused to take no for an answer and held her down to keep her from leaving.

"Nope. If you think I'm lying, then let me prove you wrong."
