She picks up her purse and keys and gets ready to leave.
"Excuse me, you're leaving?"
"Oh yes, didn't we have this discussion yesterday?
I'm not your real teacher, so I really have no business being here."
"If we can't leave, you shouldn't either."
"Or at least we should be allowed to leave when you do."
"I can't just sit here and read all day."

"Even Johanna is speaking out.
This has gotten serious."
"Ms. Walsh, if we came for a self-directed study, we would have done just gone to a library.
We need you to teach us."
"And you will have someone to teach you.
I'm advocating for you guys as we speak."
Ms. Walsh's voice strained.
She must be feeling the pressure we're putting on her.
"Someone has to go in front of the school board and tell them
there has been some misunderstanding and that's exactly what I'm heading to do.
In the meantime, you will be shooting yourself in the foot if you didn't stay here and study."
