Let us begin our prayers today with a reading for the New Testament.
Likewise, you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders.
Yes, all of you be submissive to one another and clothe with humility, for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon him, for he cares for you.
Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary, the devil, walks amongst you like a roaring lion,
seeking whom he may devour, but resist him, be steadfast in your faith, knowing the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.
But may the God of all grace, who called us, his eternal glory for Jesus Christ, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you to him,
be the glory and the dominion forever.
Amen.
Let us rise.
Let's say the Lord's Prayer.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses.
